      Experimental condensed matter physics research assistant working under GENESIS Energy Frontier Research Center funded by Department of Energy.Synthesis of 3D transition metal oxides and orthophosphates in crystalline and amorphous forms from hydrothermal procedures.Sample characterization via powder x-ray diffraction to determine crystal structure and UV/Vis spectroscopy to probe transition metal oxidation states.

      This research combines multiscale image segmentation methods, image texture metrics, andrandom forest classification to develop a novel approach to identification of individual trees damaged by southern pine beetle using ultra-high spatial resolution imagery.
