    • Lifestyle Care

      Oct 2011 - Dec 2013
      Regional Director

On joining this company the portfolio was at eighteen homes; following the failure of Southern Cross and the operational transfer once again to Life Style Care the company grew overnight to thirty nine homes. The Transfer of the operational responsibility brought with it many challenges from transfer of the staff to Life Style policy and managing refurbishment of each of the homes. I enjoyed the challenge of supporting eight experienced and informed Registered Managers all at different stages of their career. My Support included:• Reviewing and maintaining quality service• Changing parts of the service of a home to meet the changing market.• Set up and maintain regular regional meetings for the Registered Managers• Planning supervision and appraisal for the managers• Facilitating training sessions for the staff• Facilitating training for Registered Managers• Support of Managers through fee negotiation with the main purchasers local Council• Decision to self impose an embargo on a home that required an upgrade in the fibre of the building and the knowledge base of the staff, once a standard was achieved I lifted the embargo with consultation of the main purchasers .• I compiled an induction for Relief/Home Manager, Deputy Home Manger, and a document for Preceptorship in collaboration with a second Regional Director.• I have introduced change to the audit system throughout the company• I supported a piece of work completed by a representative group of Registered Managers and their Deputies from my region into “Nurses and Nursing”. This looked at recruitment, induction and Continuous Professional Development• I assisted in the work to put together a system of competencies with blended learning; also devising a matrix to capture the statistics of those competent in the subject• Redundancy for hours/roles thus ensuring maintenance of the quality of the service, and to maintain a positive financial picture Show less

      Home Manager

I am motivated by excellent care. I want those in our care to enjoy their lives at a pace that they determine. The vision is to offer a day that is rooted in the residents likes and dislikes. It is important that each person on the team realises their potential and do not carry the burden of regulation. The emphasis is to be on a "Can do" principle for those in our care.
