      As a Lived Experience Consultant and Advocate, I leverage my personal journey to empower and support individuals, organisations, and professionals in understanding and addressing the needs of neurodivergent individuals and those experiencing eating disorders. My multifaceted work encompasses maintaining an influential online advocacy blog, delivering training sessions to psychotherapists and professionals working with SEND, consulting on therapeutic practices, conducting live speaking events on pertinent topics, and developing practical resources such as client worksheets.Highlights:💖Established and maintained the online advocacy blog @Recoveringwithmia, amassing a dedicated following of 70,000 followers.🌻Provided comprehensive training sessions to psychotherapists and SEND professionals, enhancing their understanding of neurodivergent individuals.🦋Consulted with various organizations, including the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society, Bright World Guardianship Company and KRD training, on optimising therapeutic structures and language surrounding neurodivergence.🕊️Worked in partnership with Dove’s Self Esteem Project which has been helping young people develop their self-esteem since 2004 as they believe that all young people deserve the support to reach their potential.🚨Featured as a guest speaker on ITV News, advocating for awareness of the growing rates of eating disorders in young people in the UK. Additionally, I fulfill trustee duties, contributing to the Guild's governance and strategic direction.Highlights: 🧡Successfully secured funding for a peer support project, establishing a network of peer support groups, providing tailored training, and developing resources for best practices.🪴Enhanced Exehale rooms (quiet spaces) for neurodivergent students by implementing sensory aids and collaborating with the library to offer casual reading materials based off student feedback.❤️‍🩹Facilitated comprehensive eating disorder awareness training for the entire student Union staff, along with creating essential resources to empower the team to better support affected students and coworkers.
