Working in the sales associate position at Attic Antiques & Gifts has allowed me to gain many skills of clerical experience, pricing and numeracy, teamwork, and especially customer satisfaction. Day to day, I am typically working with customers and pricing items, but there have been many instances where I have had to manage conflict with a customer, sales representative, or within our team of employees. These experiences have given me an introduction to conflict management, which I am open to pursuing in the future. In addition, I have unpacked merchandise and priced product, interpreted invoices, and communicated damaged items or cancellations to the associated wholesale businesses. I have been able to master communication over the phone, especially with customers who are interested in a product or want to know if we have what they want in stock. In terms of technical skills, I have become proficient in QuickBooks Point of Sale Systems, payments via Clover, and Outlook. Show less As my boss was not able to work at the store during the months of July, August, and September, I took on a more managerial role to make sure tasks ran smoothly at the store. I distributed payment to employees, helped arrange schedules, and oversaw all sales, shipments, and returns. I helped my boss stay up to date on payments and kept constant communication with her about what was selling, what needed to be restocked, and any other issues that arose. Also, I helped train a new employee during this time. I taught her how to use QuickBooks Point of Sale systems, make a sale, and basic customer service skills. I greatly enjoyed helping my boss and fellow employees during this time. Show less

As a student investigator, I have created and worked on three research projects with the help of three different professors. The first of which I began planning with Dr. Miguel Moreno in the fall of 2022, but did not formally start writing documents for the IRB, fixing up experimental procedures in PsychoPy and Qualtrics, and organizing articles related to our research. Our research project focused on the memory consolidation of three types of memory tasks including a random word association task, sequential finger tapping task, and mirror tracing task, across either quiet or active wakefulness. In simpler terms, we tested the three memories pretest, either administered quiet or active wakefulness during a twenty minute period, and then re-administered the three memory tasks posttest. I am currently writing a manuscript for publication on this particular project, and linked a pdf of our poster I presented at the Southwestern Psychological Association (SWPA) Conference. My second project with Dr. Collin Scarince was drafted last fall (2023) and we submitted to the IRB this past spring. Our project focuses on how induced psychosocial stress and the personality trait of neuroticism affect working memory. Two confederates are used to induce psychosocial stress using the Trier Social Stress Test, which has allowed me to expand on my communication and project management skills. Research assistants in Dr. Scarince's Visual Cognition Lab will continue data collection in fall 2024. Lastly, I worked with Dr. Brenda Frye on a project looking at how past abuse history affects participants' ability to perceive risk in vignettes along with facial recognition of emotions using 2D visual stimuli. Our procedures were administered via Qualtrics, and we will be analyzing data soon. Show less My responsibilities included grading discussion posts, group video and essay assignments, and individual essay assignments. I filled out rubrics with feedback in each category for each individual or group essay submitted. I graded assignments for APA citations, syntax, focus on the main topic, and overall writing flow. I met with the overseeing professor on a weekly basis and graded assignments in a timely manner. I ensured that all details were accounted for within each essay to promote the success of students in their future assignments. Show less
