      Library Technician

I assist in managing the libraries at the Carson City Correctional Facility. I schedule prisoners to come into both law and general libraries. This is done by processing kites, formal paper requests to come to the library. I review the date(s) the prisoner(s) request, see if there are conflicts in the prisoner(s) schedules, and review if there is an opening on the date(s) and time(s) requested. I review newspapers, magazines, audio, and braille books before they are placed in the library or loaned to prisoners. I also catalog the audio and braille books. Materials that risk the safety and security of the prison are either returned to the loaning institution(s) or are disposed. With the librarian, I manage the library clerks. I give the clerks materials to shelve and keep track of what hours they work.
