Providing technical support and training on a wide range of Microsoft, Cisco and RF equipment utilised by bespoke communications systems within the business and associated civilian government agencies. • Employed as part of a 3rd line Wide Area Networks (WAN) support team, I am responsible for the configuration and testing of Cisco routers and firewalls including the management of government grade crypto devices. The timescale for delivery was aggressive and by implementing improved live testing processes the deployment of a new secure WAN was completed on time, providing increased efficiencies and effectiveness to key business capabilities globally for multiple stakeholders. • Led the installation of bespoke communication systems deployed globally to British Embassies, involving autonomous deployments to liaise with onsite engineers and project planning of future infrastructure to allow increased ergonomics and achieve operational effect.• Enforced correct operation of MOD systems with the creation and subsequent adaptation across the business of standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and security operating procedures (SyOps).• Provide revised deployment techniques to the installation of radio communication systems into multiple vehicle types using experience gained from previous work places. This allowed new skills to be taught to junior workshop members and faster, more ergonomic deployment of communication systems.• Asked to provide career management for junior staff to increase their potential and skill set. This was achieved by setting up training schemes to test their potential and guided lessons to fill in training gaps. The junior members of the workshop passed all objectives they were tested whilst completing essential knowledge transfer on specialist equipment and systems. This resulted in a more capable team within the working environment and an ability that can be passed on in the future. Show less Close technical support to Special Forces Provided essential technical support worldwide to UKSF, including multiple deployments to operational environments• Provided overt camera systems and network infrastructure to Security Forces, including the rigging of telecommunication masts for operational tasks.• Support to SRR (Special Reconnaissance Regiment) on the planning and execution of technical operations on bespoke equipment on time sensitive operational deployments.• Regular organisation of original technical training programmes to adapt to changes of equipment, tactics and techniques provided to both UKSF personnel and junior technical support personnel.• Delivering technical training and demonstrations to peer group and senior VIPs.• Setup and managed a small team of subordinates running a Secure Media Cell, who were in charge of the distribution and maintenance of all media sources within the business, including the imaging of all software.• Technical management and operational running of tactical radio net covering a large regiaonal area. Strategic design input was provided for the setup and maintenance of VHF and UHF links province-wide.• Setup and maintenance of an SHF point to point radio network across operational theatre, including the planning of the IP network. Show less Attended a career progression course, studying various technical and engineering work streams with the outcome of receiving a HNC in Telecommunications covering the following subject areas;• Study of undergraduate level maths and physics, applying learned concepts to better design communication systems in both radio and IP networks.• Study of IT principals including detailed analysis of transmission protocols, network design and software system design and repair. • Study of radio communication theory, application of best-practice installations for maximum propagation within radio spectrum and radio frequency management.• Study of logical fault finding principles and application into real-world faults. Show less SME for the installation, maintenance and repair of the British Army's Electronic Counter Measures to combat the threat of roadside IED’s (Improvised Explosive Devices) in operational theatres.• Assisted in radio spectrum management to prevent fratricide between communication equipment and electronic counter measures, this allowed the appropriate frequencies to be used in theatre, therefore maximising safety for active units, while not interrupting essential radio traffic between units. • Tasked with the design, installation and deployment of a range of Electronic Counter Measure equipment to a new vehicle type in theatre, that had not been covered with the full range of devices. A series of tests were put together to make sure protection levels were to standard, Signal to Noise ratios were suitable and equipment could, once installed, be easily accessed by the operators. Once all test had been completed and revisions made, the deployment was instigated and mission successful. • Performed technical maintenance and repair on equipment at 1st line level during operational patrols, permitting the continuity of essential protection to active operations.• Co-ordinated the design and delivery of training given to all personnel entering operational theatre. Training was delivered to all levels and seniority of both military and civilian personnel often on a one to one basis, allowing the increase in knowledge and education about key subject matter.• Assisted post incident teams in the analysis of IED design in order to mitigate future threats. Show less Team member in the installation, maintenance and repair of the British Army's battlefield voice communication networks and information systems on UK based exercises and overseas operations.• Installation and 1st and 2nd line maintenance on VHF and HF radio systems to component level.• Installation and 1st line maintenance of satellite bearer systems, including Head Quarters portable systems, personal role equipment and liaison with Satellite Ground Stations. • Tasked with the planning and implementation of 1st line inspections to a fleet of operational vehicles, including the maintenance of all radio equipment and crew knowledge. A two-week training package was drawn together and resulted in a complete and repeatable system of work that was carried out bi-annually from there on. • 1st line technical support for major British Army Head Quarters, in support of over 200 senior members, providing internal and external communications of a series of worldwide exercises.• Performed the setup and maintenance of telephony equipment, cryptography and multiplexing equipment across the whole corporate business estate with over 200 users.
