  As an intern in the Hospital Division Finance Group at Kindred, I worked closely with the staff accountant to gather files from each hospital district and construct monthly reports/check-ins, post journal entries, gather documents/support to help prepare for internal audit, and assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close. I also worked closely with the senior administrative assistant to format PowerPoints and construct the Monthly Finance Report and Monthly Accounting Close books. Furthermore, I would sit in on the bi-weekly conference calls to hear how each district was doing regarding budgets and financial obligations and how to best alter operations moving forward to meet goals.   My primary role was to update information in Humana's internal databases to support staff, medical professionals, and clients. I attended weekly meetings with my team of data engineers to update them on the progress of that week's project. As part of the internship program, I also attended several professional development courses such as Emotional Intelligence Leadership Development and Mastering Meetings. This internship provided me with skills necessary to be comfortable with big data sets.

  This internship mainly focused on fostering my data analytics skills. I learned how to manipulate / merge data sets so that it could more easily be read to identify trends and tell a story. Most of the summer, I worked with data on compliance gaps to help explain why people weren't compliant and collecting on their benefits in certain geographical areas. I attended several training seminars and learned applicable skills relating to my professional as well as personal life.   As a Style Consultant, I help ensure the floor is properly stocked of apparel and accessories, assist guests with any questions and general customer service, and tidy up areas to make the space open and inviting to guests. I also help the front of the store by assisting with check outs whenever the store gets busy to ensure guests have a pleasant shopping experience and can complete their visit in a timely manner.
