    • Sodexo

      Sept 2011 - Oct 2013
      Student Manager

I believe everyone should take a stint in food service by the time they graduate college. Working for Sodexo not only taught me to appreciate the amount of effort and time it takes to prep, cook, serve, and clean up after 800 students every day, it also gave me a chance to lead my own team of student workers as well as be a liaison between students and full-time staff at the dining hall.16 hours a week (it felt like 1600) I trained and supervised a team of 12+ student workers. I overcame my fear of running a cash register and handling money other than my own. I also learned the difference between ciabatta bread and bialy, the names of a dozen types of cheese, how to interact with drunk college students, and how to make the perfect banana chocolate chip pancake. • Harpur Palate Literary Journal

      Feb 2013 - May 2013
      Social Media / Marketing Intern

This internship was a turning point in my journey of self-discovery. Other than reading people's submissions and considering them for publication by the journal, I sought out other ways I could be useful for the editorial team. After realizing that our informational brochures and contest handouts were more than 5 years old, I decided to make new ones and create an easily recognizable brand to streamline all marketing materials. In order to do this I had to wrestle Photoshop and InDesign, and by the end of the internship I was comfortable enough on both to continue using the skills I had acquired in my next internship with CICE. This internship helped me realize my passion for graphic design. Some stats of my time at Harpur Palate:- Increased submissions by 15% through maintenance of social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr- Increased online hits by 48% by revamping the journal’s Blogspot, with weekly postings to highlight guest authors, new publications from contributors, and book reviews- Communicated with 200+ subscribers via email, answering queries and providing information (learned how to BCC the hard way) Show less

    • Center for Innovative and Continuing Education

      Jun 2013 - Dec 2013
      Administrative Intern

Life of an office intern: Filing, copying, color-coding, inter-office communicating, answering calls from people who think we are the post office, wiping down tables, discreetly eating all the muffins in the break room.

    • Binghamton University

      Sept 2013 - Sept 2015

I could not have been luckier to be hired for this job right out of college. It not only allowed me to explore the field of continuing education, but also helped solidify my work ethic. When you work with remarkable and tireless people, you strive to be like them too. My main responsibilities included:- WEB MANAGEMENT: I worked with different online content management systems on a daily basis (CampusCE, OmniUpdate, Joomla). I updated content and format information to be easily legible as well as aesthetically pleasing. I am comfortable with basic HTML.- MARKETING: Using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, I created posters, brochures, and other marketing paraphernalia to advertise our events and courses, both physically and online.- COMMUNICATIONS: I drafted emails and developed strategic communication plans (Constant Contact) to advertise and build relationships. Everyone at the office pretends to mute their work emails at night, but the truth is communication never stops. I regularly responded to calls, answered emails, reached out to inquiries, problem solved for projects, and brainstormed for future ventures. The meetings are free and open to the public, and each is an incredible learning and networking opportunity for the community. Show less

    • SUNY Broome Community College

      Jan 2016 - May 2016
      Intern to the President

This 300-hour research internship began with a conversation with Dr. Kevin Drumm (president of SUNY Broome Community College). Dr. Drumm wanted to increase the role of distance education at SUNY Broome and assigned me to conduct research. The ultimate goal would be to establish a “college within a college” at SUNY Broome that encompasses all forms of distance education – 100% online programs, hybrid courses, and everything in-between. I was supervised by Dr. Kelli Ligeikis, who was then dean of the STEM division and also headed the concurrent enrollment programs at Broome. This internship culminated with a 65-page research report that included literature reviews, qualitative interviews, comparative studies of web design/UX, and data analysis on distance education, concurrent enrollment, and micro-credentials at local community colleges in central and upstate New York. My MPA Capstone project was an extension of this project. Show less
