Delivered logistic advice to high level operational analysis, in support of projects and programmes aligned to Defence strategy. Applied knowledge, expertise and positively influenced logistic modelling to inform analytical study and research requirements. Integrated seamlessly and supported a multifaceted portfolio of projects and brought effective levels of coherence and ‘ground truth’ to scientific activity, industry and academia to ensure the efficient delivery of S&T project outcomes for Defence.Effectively engaged a wide stakeholder group, incorporating both large and SME organisations to help enable the delivery of two high profile projects, Autonomous Last Mile Resupply (ALMRS) funded to £50M and the multinational Ground Logistic Autonomous Movement (GLAM) project, funded to £15M. Both projects working successfully to realise the benefits of utilising highly automated unmanned ground and air platforms to deliver logistic supplies over challenging terrain or within high threat areas. Published and author of both the ALMRS & GLAM capability concept papers, which have helped to recognise and shape the potential benefits of using automated vehicle technologies for military logistics. Show less Effectively led and coordinated a large management team, tasked with the operation of transport fleets and technical equipment (£25-30M) utilised by one of the Army’s principal logistic regiments. Successfully co-managed organisational change, which included the entire relocation of the supply chain management department. By empowering the team to focus on set goals and targets, areas requiring improvement were quickly identified and corrective action was taken. Within 12 months, policies and procedures were refined and the regiment was awarded the highest annual audit grading. Benefits of this work were realised, following the regiments field training exercise in Canada where its ability to deploy, operate and deliver logistic support to field force units was tested; and met with the highest award of operational readiness. Show less Successfully managed the career and welfare needs of ~120 soldiers from a Port Task Squadron, delivering maritime logistic capability. As well as business as usual activity, this period included two operational tours and support to the 2012 London Olympics. Deployed (2010) as the sole UK Logistics Liaison Officer within a US 2* Headquarters in Southern Afghanistan (Kandahar). Identified the grid lock of UK military freight at Kandahar Customs Depot (KCD). Executed fine negotiation skills, gained the trust of US Senior Officers and opened dialogue between customs and local government officials. Resulted in the release of UK military equipment, following several months of impoundment. Show less Analysed, reshaped and modernised the delivery of Defence Transport Policy, which improved governance and legislative compliance. Particularly timely, with the introduction of a new fleet of wheeled armoured vehicles and the roll out of ~8,000 MAN Support Vehicles. New revised policy enabled risk to be managed more effectively without impacting on ‘operational capability’, cognisant of the need to operate vehicles and equipment under arduous and stressful conditions. Key benefits included the revised MOD Drivers Hours Schemes, which improved the crew management of armoured fighting vehicles and blue light emergency response teams. Show less Directly responsible for maintaining transport capability, assurance and driver training for all units within the deployable brigade (~7,500 pers). Deployed to Iraq (2005-2006) as the principal transport specialist, charged with maximising the availability of a large fleet of vehicles and equipment (~4000+), improving safety and reducing the number of soldier injuries and fatalities associated with traffic incidents. Identified risks and set goals to improve force protection measures, reduce vehicle rollover incidents and improve the ‘driving styles & techniques’ of soldiers operating in high threat areas, exposed to insurgent activity and roadside improvised explosive devices. Show less Served in a variety of military units through the ranks from soldier to warrant officer. Operated a vast array of logistic and armoured vehicles and bulk fuel equipment. Qualified as an instructor on various equipments and delivered training on LGV vehicles, armoured fighting vehicles, HAZMAT courses, fuel tankers, MHE, licence acquisition and testing. Managed soldiers and vehicle fleets all over the world, in arduous climatic conditions ranging from arctic to desert environments. Flexible and adaptable, supported training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and undertook other diverse postings that included maintaining transport within a helicopter support unit (aircraft workshop); and managing a large specialist vehicle fleet in support of SF deployments and training.
