The Natural Resource Management (NRM) section also works with internal and external stakeholders to research the interaction of transportation infrastructure with the natural environment. In the near term, we are focused on programmatic conservation and mitigation efforts for protected species and water resources to streamline project delivery and maximize conservation benefits where practicable. She provides assistance to TxDOT Districts and staff on issues, rules and regulations related to the ESA and other related regulations. Ms. Clamons also coordinates monthly meetings with USFWS. She develops and maintains advanced familiarity of all listed species and habitats and in particular, develops and maintains expertise on effects of transportation and infrastructure on these resources. Ms. Clamons keeps abreast of current environmental developments in assigned fields, including laws, regulations, policies and procedures regarding these species, their habitats, as well as transportation issues in general. She also reviews federal and state public notices, policies and legislation.As the Training Lead for the Natural Resources Management Team, Ms. Clamons solicits and identifies training needs and opportunities for District and/or Division staff. She develops, reviews, and coordinates, and provides training modules, workshops, webinars, etc, in natural resource laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and issues, and coordinates with other parties (TxDOT staff, agency staff, etc) to do the same.
