Focus on power engineering including smart grid, energy storage, power systems protection, transmission and distribution design, power flow studies, arc flash studies, and more. Worked with MATLAB, various SEL devices, ASPEN One-Liner, PowerWorld Sim 16. Exposed to and comfortable with NERC CIP, IEEE 1547, IEC 61850 and 61131-3 ST, and NEC / NESC.

      Worked for Portland General Electric on an alpha-prototype and concept for a utility-scale distributed energy storage deployment project. • Began project as simultaneous second senior project with four peers, then took project on as sole lead for MS thesis. • Utilized agile management in Scrum Master capacity to twice onboard teams of 4 undergraduates onto project, supervising their work for 6 months per team• Developed working lab prototype of utility-controlled battery storage system, working with SEL, Outback, Aquion, Schweizer, and CISCO components• Worked with multiple utility stakeholders to design project to seamlessly integrate with current operations• Managed day-to-day aspects of research for primary investigator; reported progress and findings in frequent meetings and reports • Met with industry sponsor and other stakeholders to set future scope of project.       • Responsible for 12 substations with 47 feeders (70k+ customers), including monitoring and researching system performance to improve quality and reliability of service; supporting system outages with proper switching and tagging procedures; aiding field operations and line crews; and analysis, prioritization, and support of restoration efforts.• Coordinated on-schedule construction and O&M – both within group, and by supporting external groups – engaging as needed with PGE Engineering and Design departments, Substation Operations, Asset Management, Power Quality, System Control Center, Public Policy, Supply Chain, Line Department and others.• Developed standardized device settings, programming work practices, and personnel training for the rollout of a key, new to PGE, tap-line reclosing technology –also representing operations and department concerns as an internal consultant.• Worked to address concerns of key customers, conducting in-depth reports investigating outage cause, duration, and preventability, and detailed and comparative analysis of multi-year historic tree-related outages for a municipal government.• Began organizational movement in 2017 to address continuing and sustained population growth in SW Portland Metro area requiring new capacity from PGE, resulting in a report to Management and VP level, and renewed urgency from T&D planning group.       I monitor the installation of the electrical systems in the ITER buildings. This includes:• Ensuring the integration of activities between various contractors who work in the same buildings, making certain that the on-site activities are performed in full integration with the Construction Management Agent (ITER contractor for construction management).• Ensuring consistency amongst the electrical systems during the installation phase, and for the engineering work packages issued by ITER engineering departments.• Performing and reviewing structural evaluations on trays, supports, conduits as generated by in-field changes during construction.• Leading the review process of any installation procedures, inspection and test plans, for the installation testing as issued by the contractor, and following the resolution of in field engineering changes and installation non-conformance.• Operating of the electrical system under the scope of this position, after commissioning.
