  For 11 years, I ran Calumet College’s student teaching placement program in association with their Bachelor’s in Education program. This phase of my career was vastly different than my time in PreK-Grade 12 environments as it allowed me the opportunity to supervise teacher candidates as they gained applied field experience. Aside from providing this critical mentorship to students, I was also involved in making continuous improvements to the program and institution. This role also gave me the opportunity to teach again (this time at the college level) as an Adjunct Instructor over 4 degree courses: Human Diversity Education; Curriculum and Instruction Education; Children’s Literature Education; Language Arts and Social Studies Education.   As Principal of this new Pre-K through Grade 8 urban school made up of 500 students and 50 staff, I had the task of not only ensuring our students received the best education possible, but also establishing this school with involvement in everything from hiring and training to policy implementation and building setup. Within a year at this new school, I made major strides in getting this institution up and running, instituting strategic growth plans, and even gaining community support – all of which efforts gave our students the best possible chance at success in education and life.
