      Dec 2011 - Jul 2012
      Medical Doctor

I worked as a doctor in the ambulance service (112 for Turkey, 911 in the USA). My job was to timely reach, save, stabilize, and transfer the patients to health facilities at any time, any location, any patient, environment, or accident. Besides being a work experience, it was a unique life experience. It taught me to approach even extreme situations calmly from a problem-solving perspective.

    • Cedars-Sinai

      Jul 2012 - Jan 2014
      Research Scientist

My work was to understand the molecular mechanisms behind treatment resistance of prostate cancer, and we discovered a novel mechanism, the assistance of YAP1 protein to the androgen receptor. This work in Dr. Cinar's lab laid the foundation of my laboratory skills, and scientific research.

    • T.C. Sağlık Bakanlığı

      Jan 2014 - Aug 2015
      Medical Doctor

I was the primary care physician of around 2400 people of all ages and covered the emergency services in shifts with my colleagues in our rural hospital. It gave me a wide range of experience in general practice of medicine, family medicine, immunizations, maternity care, emergency service, and home health care.

      Aug 2015 - Aug 2019
      Graduate Student Research Assistant

In my doctoral research under Dr. Han-Fei Ding's mentorship, I developed an ability to build hypotheses and wrote my first grant. Studying multiple aspects of cancer metabolism broadened my experimental skills and became a solid foundation for becoming an experimental scientist. As a result of my studies, I found the GLDC gene as a potential drug target.

      Jan 2020 - Jul 2022
      Postdoctoral Researcher

As a postdoctoral researcher, I can independently design and execute experiments, analyze and present my findings as posters or scientific articles. Exosomes are at the center of our multiple research projects. Besides exploratory experiments and multiple collaborations, here are the main projects that I work on;1. Stroke treatment with EPC-derived exosomes, which aims to harvest stem-like properties of Endothelial Progenitor Cells from their exosomes to improve vessels and circulation in stroke.2. Engineering exosomes for cancer treatment, in which we modify exosomes to carry protein parts to guide the body's immune cells to tumor-associated macrophages.3. Engineering exosomes to turn them into cell-specific MRI contrast reagents to detect cancer metastasis. Show less

      Postdoctoral Fellow

I do clinical tests, as well as research. I run several PCR-based diagnostic tests, next generation sequencing-based drug resistance test, and microarray-based oncologic molecular diagnostic tests. Researchwise, I currently study on graft-versus-host disease, and couple more diagnostic-related projects coming in.
