      Duties: • Serve as CHIO/DCMO in VISN 6, for VA facilities in Virginia and North Carolina.• Part of the VISN team supporting national Informatics infrastructure and advancing solutions for managing workflow and knowledge in clinical systems.• Resident expert in Clinical Informatics and health IT, principal advisor to VISN Director, CMO and Deputy Network Director for Clinical Informatics issues.• Selection of equipment, systems, analytic tools and processes that the VISN uses across all facilities. • Lead for systems improvement to facilitate the work of providers in delivering care. • Provide expertise and strategic vision to successfully deploy/integrate available information technology tools and systems into clinical workflows. • Principal advisor for clinical operations, informatics, data analysis, data quality and business case optimization. • Evaluate and decisions on process re-engineering to standardize tools, techniques and data across the VISN. • Standardize best business practices for consult management, scheduling, clinic utilization, panel size, physician referral patterns, productivity measurements and purchase care activities.• Participate in VISN and national work groups; national assignments from VACO when requested. • Represent VISN and Facilities needs to VACO representatives, providing input into shaping national policy/new systems. • Serve as acting CMO when the CMO is on leave. • Serve as the focal point for Group Practice Management (GPM) at the VISN level. • Actively engage with facility Directors and Chiefs of Staff, providing guidance and assistance with local systems. • Duties require travel to all Network facilities for site visits: evaluate compliance with VACO and VISN rules/regulations regarding informatics; assess and develop action plans when problematic issues occur; participate and lead group discussions/efforts to respond to clinical IT needs throughout the VISN; will occasionally attend national meetings.
