      Communications editor

As the Communications Editor for the IT Services department, I served as a project manager and supervisor and was responsible for:1. Internal and External University Communications: I design marketing materials highlighting departmental services for University publications, events, and mailings. I also update department websites, compose written content for current and future webpages, draft weekly articles for our department newsletter, INSITE, and design images to accompany these articles. These responsibilities have given me a thorough understanding of the importance of consistently maintaining the University’s graphic identity and upholding the integrity of the official University seal.2. Managing the production of the University of Chicago Directory: The UofC prints 17,500 copies of the campus directory annually. I am personally responsible for maintaining the production timeline and managing our student staff. I am also in charge of keeping the Directory Reviewer databases up to date and proofreading directory entries prior to print. With the recent implementation of a new online update system, I designed training materials and trained over 400 directory reviewers from over 100 departments in procedures for adding, updating, and correcting information in our proprietary database.3. Outreach Event Planning and Freshmen Orientation (OFest): As part of the Communications and Outreach team, I collaborate with multiple departments and University Officials across campus to organize OFest, an annual 4,000-person event that welcomes new students to the University on move-in day. I communicate with the University’s CIO as well as representatives from the College Programming Office and the Student Activities Office to name a few. We also plan quarterly events aimed at both students and staff to promote the IT Services Solution Center and are constantly challenged to come up with new and innovative ideas that will engage a wide variety of clientele.
