  This organization operates a very fine 7-week summer program for gifted & talented secondary students, 6th-11th grade. The first summer, I worked as a string teacher, assisting the orchestra director, and directed the production of the weekly student-run newspaper. During the year, between summer sessions, I assisted with a variety of planning, organizing, and evaluation tasks on the behalf of the executive director & his board.   I worked with a volunteer cast & crew - with excellent technical support & equipment - to produce a wonderful "chamber theatre" version of Jesus Christ Superstar. I trained the choir, worked closely with the stage director & his crew, assisted with stage design & craft work, wrote arrangements & lead sheets, directed the band, contributed instrumental solos, sang with the chorus, and performed the role of Annas. On one of our 6 performances, our King Herod was not available, so I stepped in to perform that role in his place that day. Show less

We've been heard at the Austin Marathon, Ross' Old Austin Cafe, J. Mueller BBQ, Baby Acapulco, It's a Grind Coffeehouse, and the now-defunct Triumph Cafe & Graffiti's Bar & Grill. Not too long ago, we performed for the folks at Cedar Ridge Alzheimer's Special Care Unit. Otherwise, you might catch us performing at a company banquet or private party in the Austin area.   This was a fine assembly of a dozen local musicians & a few dozen vocalists who performed a concert series at the Dobie Theatre after several months of rehearsal. I left before the final concert at Riverbend Center, but was glad to become acquainted & to work with so many local colleagues. We were not provided with sheet music, so several of us volunteered to write arrangements of the more complicated pieces.   Trained the singers & musicians for a contemporary, musical version of The Imaginary Invalid (Moliere), performed & produced a custom recorded soundtrack, and performed two on-stage roles: the Norwegian (silent, except for "speaking" by playing a melodica) & a "Doctor" in the final scene (a chorus role). Producing the soundtrack encompassed recording sessions with a pianist, two brass players, and a percussionist, other sessions of me on multiple instruments, followed by many extended hours of mixing and editing to arrive at the final mix. Editing and preparing the soundtrack was the most intense and challenging part of this position, but I learned much & honed my digital recording skills in a fun situation. Show less
