My research interests span a number of control & systems technology areas including: advanced control, advanced actuators, fault-detection and health/condition monitoring, fault-tolerant control, safety-critical systems, system identification, system modelling and simulation. The application areas for my control and mechatronics interests has always spanned transport, aerospace and energy. In my role here, I have a particular focus toward railways - within the BCRRE and UKRRIN.

    • Awarded to Roger Dixon
2016 IET Innovation Award - Transport Institution of Engineering and Technology Nov 2016 The award went to the REPOINT project. The judging panel commented:“This was seen as a very innovative product that has potential to make a big impact in the rail industry particularly if it reduces the time required to maintain switches and crossings with the additional benefit of reducing route setting times in congested areas.”http://conferences.theiet.org/innovation/categories/transport/index.cfm
    • Awarded to Roger Dixon
2015 Most Interesting Innovation Award - REPOINT Rail Engineer Magazine / The Rail Exec Club Nov 2015 REPOINT the judges voted REPOINT to be the most interesting rail innovation of 2015. The team attended the awards ceremony in Derby to collect the trophy. This followed an extended article featured in Rail Engineer magazine (Sep 2015) which covered the operation of the concept.See http://www.railengineer.uk/2015/12/31/reliability-through-redundancy/
