    • British Columbia Emergency Health Services

      Jan 2001 - Feb 2015
      Director, Education

For 14 years with British Columbia Ambulance Service, I applied my skills and knowledge relevant to leadership in a complex environment. I designed and implemented an education division team within the BCAS to provide continuing education and certification program to 3500 paramedics and dispatchers. Comprised of 75 individuals, the team included managers, educators, contractors and office-staff managing change and creating value using new information technologies for education delivery, assessment and evaluation. As a spending authority($9M), I was responsible for providing primary and continuing education to over 3500 paramedics through contracted and internally-developed programs to raise the level of patient care including CPR, trauma life support, pediatric care, and advanced airway management. Internally designed occupational health and safety programs provided an evidence-based approach to mitigate risks in the work place. The organization's first computer learner management system was implemented during my tenure utilizing internal technical experts, education team members and 3rd party vendors. Responsible for initiation and implementation of a $7 million scholarship fund to support Emergency Medical Assistant (EMA) education. The EMA Education Fund Awards were funded by the Emergency and Health Services Commission for the purpose of supporting the education of Emergency Medical Assistants in British Columbia. Working with the Vancouver Foundation, this fund provides awards to students enrolled in institutions in the province of BC for Emergency Medical Assistance (EMA) programs that have been approved by the EMA Licensing Board. • Respect Campaign

      Oct 2018 - now
      Respect Forum Western Canada Coordinator

The Respect Campaign was established to support the fight against PTSD and homelessness among serving military, veterans and first responders by fostering public awareness and generating funds through corporate and community involvement. There are hundreds of organizations across the country responding to the needs of veterans and first responders in crisis but they often are working without knowing of other organizations in the same communities that are performing similar or complementary functions. In response, the Respect Campaign mission has evolved into one which would create a means to address this. The Respect Forums were established in major centres across Canada to provide a platform for these diverse and worthy groups to come together in a networking opportunity. The hope and expectation is that these forums will help front line service providers find further opportunities to collaborate and perhaps develop lasting synergies so that the safety net will become tighter and fewer veterans and first responders in need will fall through gaps in the mesh.
