  During the construction of Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project (JNHPP), I provided a great service to the SINOHYDRO CO.LTD performing my duties as HSE Supervisor.•Helping the senior management in supervising and implementing the health and safety policies throughout the company.•Doing risk assessment to the ongoing work or new work at site and suggesting the risk control measures.•Identifying hazards that workers may be exposed to and their health-related effects then suggesting the control measures to be taken so as to eliminate the hazard or reduce it to acceptable level.•Doing inspection at worksite to identify hazards and risks that may lead to accidents and near miss and inspecting the worksite to check the compliance to health and safety policy and law.•Doing near miss and accident investigation and recommending remedial actions that will solve the problem from not reoccurring.•Preparing daily and weekly reports describing the health and safety practices at working site that will be shared within the HSE management.•doing internal auditing that will help to check the performance of health and safety by the company.•Doing toolbox talks to workers before commencing work so as to raise awareness on the great importance of occupational health and safety and awareness on different hazards that workers are exposed to at work and how to follow properly the control measures for eliminating or reducing risk to acceptable level.•Providing health and safety trainings and drills to workers including firefighting drills, emergency response training, induction training and training to specific high-risk job.•Discussing health and safety performance of the organization in health and safety committee.•Assessing worksite activities that lead to negative environment impacts and suggesting control measures to be taken to eliminate or alleviate the problem.   in ensuring that DEC company attains the great goal of zero harm to her workers, community, properties and environment I did the following as the environmental social health and safety supervisor • Assist with developing HSE plans that comply with company policies and procedures and client requirements. • Ensure training, toolbox meetings, and drills are implemented as part of the company’s construction site training and HSE program.• Investigate and complete the close-out process of all Accident Investigation Reports and prepare or submit lessons learnt to the HSE Manager for promulgation to the management. • Preparing weekly and monthly HSSE reports on general compliance to OSHA laws, procedures and regulations. • Participate in HSE committee meeting to discuss company’s HSE performance and compliance.• Ensuring the safe systems of work are implemented and monitored.• Preparing community engagement plans and doing community engagement meetings regarding community health and safety.• Review the risk assessment at regular time.• Ensuring the implementation of Environmental and social management plan is done at construction site and surrounding community.• Doing site inspection to discover hazards and risks which are not controlled and suggesting actions to be taken to manage the risks.• Conduct HSE induction and orientation for all new employees.• Support construction site HSE personnel in developing the worksite’s HSE campaigns and good practices.
