  - Meet regularly with local, state and federal legislators to advocate for the interests of student on issues such as medical amnesty, mental health, tuition concerns, and infrastructure projects happening on campus- Facilitated the creation of the Director of Voter Engagement to spearhead voter engagement increase from 67.5% in 2016 to 70%+ in 2020 - Created the first student advocacy agenda in my role as the leader of the Legislative Liaison Team to encourage all members to be well acquainted with the material they would be relaying to legislators and to receive feedback from the student body- Introduced legislative language to the Iowa legislature regarding suicide prevention work by creating a document to hand to legislators that included language that establishes the position, purpose of the positions, functions, and desired allocation. - Developed comprehensive transition guide with detailed descriptions of each aspect of the Director of Government Relations work, as well as a checklist and areas for improvement Show less
