  As a researcher and policy analyst, I worked on non-traditional security threats (piracy, pandemics, home-grown terrorism); I wrote papers, published opinion pieces in all the leading Australian newspapers, and gave presentations. I have published two thrillers based on my research, an a memoir that is currently being made into a film. I have been a guest at numerous writers' festivals and a literacy ambassador for 'Get Reading'

I researched and wrote issue analysis papers on non-traditional security threats with a focus on the securitisation of infectious diseases and HIV/AIDS

  I ran Council meetings, and helped create and revise strategic plans for the future of the school. I worked with teachers and the principal on a core values statement for the school and on communicating it effectively to parents.

  Get Reading - Author & Speaker

  I toured regional Australia, speaking in libraries, book stores and community centres about how I write, and why. The aim of the programme was to bring authors to towns that are usually not on the speaking circuit, and to enthuse the local people about books and reading.

  I write 'think pieces' that comment on the current influences in our lives. Recent articles have looked at rising levels of anxiety in our society, and the effect of a hyper-visual culture on our sense of ourselves.
