      I’m thrilled to reflect on my ongoing role as part of a team dedicated to enhancing the learning experience for chemical engineering students at Montana State University. Since July, I’ve been working on validating and improving HYSYS modules, ensuring they are intuitive and practical for courses across the ECHM curriculum.This opportunity has allowed me to contribute to the development of tools that bridge theory and application, making engineering concepts more accessible to students. I also support classes throughout the semester, helping implement these modules in real-world learning scenarios. This experience has been incredibly rewarding and has sharpened my technical and collaborative skills.I’m grateful to be part of a project that directly impacts student success and look forward to continuing to contribute to this initiative. My journey began during the spring of my freshman year, and over nearly two years, I've played a central role in every aspect of this groundbreaking endeavor. My contributions span the entire research process, from designing experiments to executing them with precision. I've been intricately involved in method development, conducting extensive experimentation to optimize the performance of extremophiles in converting oxidized plastic waste into polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs), a revolutionary bioplastic.       As a Facility Engineer Intern at Hilcorp Alaska's Prudhoe Bay site, I embarked on a unique journey that bridged hands-on operational experience with engineering insights within the oil and gas industry.Operator Experience: My journey began with a two-week immersion as an operator, where I gained invaluable insights into the intricate processes of oil and gas production. Working closely with operators, I developed a deep understanding of operational challenges and workflows, laying a strong foundation for my subsequent role as an engineer.Engineer Insight: Transitioning into an engineering role, I leveraged my frontline experience to identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency enhancement. From redlining piping and instrumentation drawings to developing construction drawing packages, I applied my knowledge to streamline processes and drive operational excellence.Problem-Solving in Remote Environments: Working in the remote Alaskan environment presented unique challenges, including limited access to resources. Operators trusted me to provide support during drill site operations, and I collaborated seamlessly with them to send lines to production, conduct tests, and optimize processes fostering a culture of teamwork and mutual respect.       Plant Engineer Intern

      During my six-month co-op as a Plant Engineer Intern, I was responsible for several critical projects. I developed a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and troubleshooting guide for a freezer and cold room that experienced temperature fluctuations, ensuring these guidelines were clear and comprehensive for utility operators and engineers. My presentation of the new SOP through a PowerPoint demonstration facilitated its implementation across the team. Additionally, I updated various other SOPs to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.In collaboration with Cell Culture Technology Center Engineers, I worked on several key projects. I created a caustic tracker to monitor chemical usage, tracked down serial numbers and technical IDs to ensure equipment accuracy and reliability, and developed detailed work instructions to standardize processes. This internship provided hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of plant engineering operations, contributing to my professional growth in a highly regulated environment. Show less
