My photography has been a life long passion of mine, from my training days in dim smelly darkrooms to the joy and flexibility of modern digital technology it has been an adventureI continually strive to improve my work and incorporate new technology and methods to be the best I can be. With a week day role in construction my photography was mainly at weekends. My core commissions being for weddings, portraits and events.Working with people is great fun and preserving so many unique days was joyously rewarding. Show less

      Site foreman

With an un-expected opportunity in the construction industry my initial role as a general hand quickly developed into a site logistics role supplying materials and plant to and from the companies various sites.A situation arose where I was asked to take over and manage the completion of a project which I achieved successfully. After this I was given progressively more complex projects to manage which culminated in the completion of my first new build as a site foreman. The project was a 5 plot terrace residential build; interestingly it was 2 stories at the front and 4 stories to the rear elevation. Show less

My unique career mix involving both photography and construction has led me to develop some advanced techniques in Architectural Imaging using both in camera and post production processes. To find a method, imaging system or a work flow to to turn a clients vision into reality is one of the most rewarding things I do.My construction experience allows me to talk to and understand the photographic needs of construction professionals and refine my work to accomplish that need.As such architectural and heritage photography has become the specialist area of my imaging work. My abilities as a Site Manager allows me to also enjoy my love of construction, leading site teams on short to medium term projects.Forever researching new technology and software to enhance my capabilities, I am currently working on a project to introduce UAV's (aka: Drones) into my services portfolio. This will allow me to offer an enhanced range of services using my flying tripods (actually they are a quadpod and a hexapod) to my clients as well as a technical tool along side laser levels and theodolites when working on construction sites.I plan this service to go live in early 2017, as all the equipment is now in place. All that needs to be complete now is the final operations manual, flight test and the granting of a commercial permit for ariel work from the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority).Watch this space ..... Domestic insulation surveyor

A freelance role surveying residential properties for either new or remedial loft and cavity wall insulation. The main clients were housing associations requiring insulation surveys of their property stock for either compliance with their environmental standards or for remedial works planning to achieve those standards. Each survey consisted of the following:- Establish and document the construction type of both structure and roof.- Document existing insulation (if any) either visually or by boroscopic inspection of wall cavities (if existing).- Document general condition in terms of damp, decay, existing ventilation and condensation.- Where either new or remedial works are needed (Government guidelines) sketch and measure property foot print and elevations for materials and add in any ventilation requirements for combustion and condensation reduction.- Establish eligibility of tenant for Government grants and permission for works.- Health and Safety risk assessment for access for installation, asbestos and vermin/pest hazards.Although the objective of the role was the report, the key skill needed was 'people skills' to arrange and gain access to the property, then to reassure them of the legitimacy of the visit and the potential benefits of it.In terms of people this was an amazing experience as I met an extreme range of people from many social and ethnic groups, it was an eye opener.
