  My experience working with the team at Peninsula Private Hospital created a strong foundation for my Speech Pathology career. In this role I was responsible for the assessment and management of swallowing and communication disorders in both acute and rehabilitation settings, as well as advocating for continued improvements of patient experience through the facilitation of education and training to hospital staff on dysphagia management and communication strategies. In this role, I benefitted from plenty of opportunities to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide quality, patient-centred care. One of the highlights of the experience was being able to participate in quality improvement projects, including the rollout of IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative).   In 2013, I founded Speak and Swallow with the aim of building a private practice team that valued improving the quality of life of adults and adolescents with communication and swallowing difficulties. I’m proud to say that since then, we’ve grown into one of Brisbane’s leading private Speech Pathology practices - now employing 13 staff members and providing quality in-clinic and mobile speech therapy services to North Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. 𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝙁𝙤𝙘𝙪𝙨 𝘼𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨While our team are proud to support clients with a range of needs across a range of Speech Pathology practice areas, Speak and Swallow has developed a strong reputation for assessment and management of swallowing disorders, communication disorders, voice disorders, upper airway disorders, and orofacial myofunctional concerns. Our team diligently support adolescents and adults with neurological conditions, progressive diseases, and complex disabilities to eat and live with confidence, dignity and joy. Through our online and in-person training offerings, Speak and Swallow also provide allied health professionals, carers, and disability and aged care support workers with the practical knowledge to support individuals with swallowing and communication difficulties.
