In some ways, the degree opened up many doors for me, in that I was able to take on the role of contributor for various online magazines. From having experience in writing short catwalk reports, political think-pieces, and humorous opinion-based articles, i truly believe that I have acquired the skills to be a well rounded journalist. Learning about Media & Communications from a social science POV was thoroughly compelling; From learning about how media shapes our culture & society, to how social networking sites influence personal communication & audience attitudes in a multi-media world gave me an insight into how rapidly the world is changing around us.I also had the opportunity to be the student rep. for the course while I was studying. I found this to sometimes be quite a challenging role, as the majority of my fellow course mates were of East Asian descent with English being their 2nd language. Being the line of communication between most of them & our professors was quite demanding at times but also a rewarding role that I thoroughly enjoyed having. Show less

Miss à la Mode
Jan 2013 - May 2018Social Media ExecutiveWorking for luxury personal shopping company Miss à la Mode since the business started up in 2013, I had the pleasure of taking control of their social media, more specifically, their twitter account. Posting responsibilities were often shared between myself and the founder of the company. I also dabbled in a little personal shopping for the business, having to speak to specialist sellers as well as department stores in order to source products for our international clients.

Candid Magazine
Jan 2013 - Sept 2013Fashion contributorLondon Fashion Week contributor- covering both mens and womenswear for the Burberry Prorsum show.

The Clothes Maiden
Nov 2013 - Aug 2014Fashion ContributorI took on the role of a contributor to The Clothes Maiden while I was studying my undergraduate degree. I found that being a weekly contributor and having a brief given to me at the beginning of every week, helped improve my skills as a journalist, taught me about how to adhere to deadlines and the importance of sticking to word counts, and above all else, gave me the great opportunity to write about different things that would appeal to our readers.

PAUSE magazine
Apr 2014 - May 2014Fashion InternBeing able to intern at a menswear magazine, while studying a fashion degree was something that was a bit of an eye opener to me. Having primarily worked with and written about womenswear, my time with PAUSE gave me the opportunity to see a different part of the fashion industry. My jobs included working on editorial roles, assisting on a menswear photo shoot and dealing with various clients for an event via email, conducting interviews and writing articles for the site amongst other duties.

Trendy Hub
Apr 2018 - Nov 2018Marketing AssistantWorking at Trendy Hub was an incredible whirlwind. As it was a new brand, I found myself to be thrown into the deep end and I can honestly say it was a very fulfilling opportunity. My main role as Marketing Assistant saw me liaise with social media influencers to work together to promote our brand, create engaging and creative content for our social media channels and work closely with the head of the department to plan and strategise marketing plans to place our brand name firmly alongside our competitors. Working to marketing budgets and strict time schedules taught me how to prioritise and reduce costs, while aiming to achieve maximum results. Due to this being a new brand, I also found myself taking on roles and responsibilities not covered by my job description; however I welcomed every task with open arms and enjoyed the opportunity to learn new things. For example, I found myself aiding with the buying department, by carrying out full trend forecasting, creating design packs for our designers and even working on fitting comments. As well as this, I was hands-on with most of our E-Com shoots, creating styling plans, taking control of the full day of shooting and working to make sure we shoot a maximum of 90 looks per one shooting day. Other general responsibilities included:- Organising in house events with worthwhile influencers and VIPs, maintaining these relationships and arranging everything from social media coverage to catering.- Overseeing e-com shoots, including arranging travel for models, catering for lunch as well as MUA/Hairstylist briefs, and styling the looks- Maintaining our website with the latest graphics (using photoshop and indesign to create these), and maintaining the digital VM of the site- Planning location shoots, from styling to hair/makeup and location scouting around London. All in all, my time at Trendy Hub was versatile and demanding, however all the while, it remained a rewarding role.
