KPMG Consulting (BearingPoint)
Nov 2000 - Oct 2002Senior ConsultantAs a Senior Consultant for KCI, you are expected to provide outstanding service, a positive “can-do” attitude and ensure that you can meet the requirements for your customers. A passion for business and technology, understanding methodologies and architectures and driving a team towards successful completion is the norm for KCI.While I was a Senior Consultant for KCI I spent a significant amount of time on large and complex projects, were I would be the technical expert for solution delivery. I spent a significant amount of time travelling globally on the AMP Henderson project, from Wellington to Sydney to London to Atlanta. This was an extremely demanding but rewarding time.Senior Consultants carry utilisation targets, and while at KCI my utilisation rate was almost twice what was targeted. Show less

Microsoft
Nov 2002 - Oct 2007A Solution Specialist within the Application Platform & Development product suite is charged with the growth and revenue of SQL Server, BizTalk, Visual Studio and assorted development tools. This role was a significant change from the previous technical roles I have held and required a more dedicated focus on strategically aligning with customers (over the longer term, rather than a project focus), to increase the penetration of the Application Platform stack within major corporate (EPG) customers. Similarly, the role required working closely with Microsoft’s partners to become a trusted advisor, and increase their knowledge and awareness of the Microsoft App Plat & Dev. Public speaking at events such as Tech.Ed, product launches and customer campaigns were a regular occurrence.Key measures for success in the role included increasing revenue growth, target deployments, competitive wins; focus on partner development and of course penetration and adoption within accounts. Deep technical knowledge in specific subject areas, a positive and practical approach to solution design and above all passion for what you do, are key attributes to being a successful consultant. While I was a Senior Consultant for Microsoft I spent a significant amount of time on large and complex projects, were I would be the technical expert in Microsoft products for solution delivery. I spent several months in Seattle, WA working with Washington Mutual Bank as well as Microsoft Redmond to ensure successfully deliver of specific projects.Senior Consultants carry utilisation and sales targets (for other consultants as well as yourself), and while at Microsoft I more than achieved both of these.
