  The Naval Space and Warfare System Center (NIWC) Pacific Battlespace Exploitation of Mixed Reality (BEMR) laboratory is a space to showcase, demonstrate and build upon cutting edge low-cost solutions using commercial off the shelf (COTS) mixed reality (MxR) technology (a mixture of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR)) and provides a facility for collaboration between warfighter, researcher, government, industry and academia.Interested in the creation of virtual environments via 3D scanning and modeling of spaces and objects. Focused on building applications to support training, operations, and maintenance.Researching naval applications for technology such as head mounted displays Microsoft HoloLens, Magic Leap, DAQRI Smart Helmet, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift; 360-degree treadmills such as Virtuix Omni; depth sensors, FARO LiDAR; tracking systems such as Valve's Lighthouse and Phase Space; motion capture systems; and 360 camera systems. Leveraging game engines such as Unity3D and Unreal; software such as Autodesk Maya.BEMR lab has received national attention, including visits from the Secretary of Defense, Congressmen, Fortune 500 CEOs, military leaders and numerous other VIPs.
