      As part of a small project management team on a 2 year contract I was tasked with getting Velocity 17 (V-17), an entertainment facility located 13 miles from midtown Manhattan, open to the public. V-17 included 60,000sqft of indoor karting track, three simulator rooms, a restaurant and 25,000sqft of conferencing and event space. Once the business started trading I continued as General Manager dealing with the day to day challenges of running a new business, up until the end of my contract.• I joined the project in Jan 2007 with a 100,000sqft shell of a building, within 6 months the facility opened to public and corporate clients• I had responsibility for hiring, training and managing 65 staff• I liaised with New Jersey’s State regulator to ensure safety protocols and proper staff training were in place before opening• Built up a large customer base of public and corporate clients and by Dec 2008 Velocity 17 had 46,000 members• I brought in corporate event business from BMW, Ferrari, Pfizer, KPMG and Goldman Sachs• I set up V17’s virtual racing, virtual flying and virtual combat rooms from scratch and trained staff on running the rooms Show less
