The aim of the work was to study the use of minigenes in the processing of miRNA-125 a splice site overlapping microRNA (SO-miRNA). In particular I studied the correlation between the production of a mature mRNA and the expression of a miRNA that are located within the same transcript and specially to analyze whether the different positions of the miRNA within the host transcript may influence the production of one or the other gene products.

I am evaluating the role of ferroptosis, a regulated necrotic cell death pathway that results from iron catalysed lipid peroxidation, in the context of diabetic nephropathy. Since diabetic patients are highly susceptible to AKI and the emerging role of ferroptosis in the pathophysiology of tubular necrosis, we aim to investigate the relative contribution of ferroptosis-induced cell death to diabetic kidney disease. We hypothesize that diabetic tissues and/or the presence of hyperglycaemia predispose and/or sensitize to ferroptosis. Weniger anzeigen
