I was the College of Law's first-ever trainee solicitor. I was seconded to the Mary Ward Legal Centre where I worked under the employment caseworker John Wiggins (a human encyclopaedia on employment law). I undertook cases up to hearing, representing a claimant on a complex two day TUPE matter, many case management discussions and shorter hearings. I negotiated settlement for many clients alongside my role as a Union Rep for Unite. The College of Law Legal Advice Centre was at time one the largest law clinics in the country in receipt of a grant from the Legal Services Commission to run a community outreach programme on a deprived Lambeth estate.
