  I manage and help expand part of the Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit's research grants portfolio, worth over £100M. My main responsibilities include supporting overseas academic staff in the preparation of grant applications, budgeting, acceptance and set up of new awards, research-related contract management, due diligence and the dissemination of relevant information to academic and research staff. I supported the Department with the central administration of two clinical trials. These trials, named EMPA-KIDNEY and ORION4, are investigating novel treatments for Kidney & Heart disease, and for reducing the chances of Heart attacks/strokes. I categorised 18-month expenditure for an ERC research grant, and supported the 'HR and Projects' Manager with ad hoc projects. I supported the Division's submission to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021 - the system for assessing the quality of research in UK higher education institutions. I assisted in the Division's preparation for the REF 2021 exercise. I ensured its Research Outputs element complied with Open Access requirements. The results show that, of the Units of Assessment that I inspected, only one output (out of 2000) was unclassified due to a possible Open Access infringement.
