  I completed a year in industry at UK Power Networks as part of my Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree. I joined the Asset Management directorate and was part of the Distribution Strategy & Risk team. My role consisted of supporting Asset Engineers / Senior Asset Engineers to:- Write RIIO-ED1 Investment justification documents. These documents outline the proposed investment UK Power Networks plan to make over the period 2015 - 2023. - Develop investment plans and programmes to improve the performance and maintain condition of distribution assets.- Review the performance of assets against key regulatory and business requirements / targets such as Health and Criticality- Develop asset intervention strategies, standards, procedures and processes to support the delivery of proposed plans. Low Voltage Health Degradation Model:My main target for the year was to develop a Health Degradation Model for Low Voltage Switchgear assets. The model forecasts how the health of assets will worsen up to the end of 2023. The model can be used to assist engineers make justification for asset intervention strategies throughout ED1. During my first year I completed numerous placements around different areas of the business in order to gain a greater understanding of how the business operated.
