  My technical responsibility encompasses the management of all aspects of weld quality control. This includes the development of new welding procedures, the review of NDT reports and confirming that planned welding activities are technically acceptable. Over the past year I have provided technical support to a number of large projects and have responsibly for technical input to a project to support research and development work for future UK submarines.My management responsibility covers 10 members of staff and two sections within the department. The sections are responsible for welder training and maintenance of welding equipment within Devonport Dockyard. Show less I managed a team of graduates and NDT Engineers to develop new NDT technologies. Of particular interest was the use of advanced ultrasonics for corrosion mapping of small diameter pipes, fibre reinforced composite examinations with ultrasound, the development of eddy current arrays for identification of welds, and methods for the in situ examination of high pressure gas cylinders, including the use of acoustic emission testing.I was involved in the day to day management of the section and supporting the NDT Manager during the preparation of budgets and long term planning Show less
