  I was asked to build a new residential training program to train dislocated workers from the closing of Carrier in Syracuse. I was brought into the Sheet Metal Workers Local # 58's training center and given the opportunity to build a lab, build a curriculum, and hire instructors. We were successful in training four classes of students.

  Workforce Development Institute (WDI)

  In addition to working as the Regional Director for the North Country region of New York State, I have taken state-wide responsibilities in economic development for the Workforce Development Institute. I was asked to lead this effort to work with regional staff to better understand the interrelated nature of economic, community and workforce development. I have been working with regional staff and regional partners to analyze the regional council economic development process and to track projects. In addition, my work with the Workforce Development Institute includes working on projects that focus on small city revitalization that includes employment and training initiatives and small business support.
