    • Universidad de Chile

      Aug 2006 - Jan 2007

On this required course for Bachelor , the student works with new or existing projects related with renewable energies like solar systems, wind energy, small hydro and others.I assist in two groups:- Small Hydro: Previous years was developed in this course a Mini-Hydro Power Plant, the student that year developed in Labview a monitoring and controller system interface to operate this plant.- Tidal Energy: This was a new project, the idea was generate knowledge for the university about the existing ways to extract energy from the tides developing scale models of the most common plants. • EOLIAN

      Feb 2007 - Oct 2007
      Solar Panel Team

EOLIAN was the first solar car in Latin-America that participated in the word solar challenger which takes place in Australia. The car arrived in the 14th position. This team that was responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of solar panel for the car.My main achievement was to implement a encapsulate techniques for the solar panel that improve their mechanical strength without sacrificing efficiency at a low cost.

      Professional Internship II

The main objective of this internship was to automate the ignition system of a generator. Was developed an electric map in AUTOCAD for the generation room and modify the existing control panel. The control system was developed in Concept, a software provided by Schneider Electric to program PLCs.

    • Universidad de Chile

      Mar 2010 - Dec 2010

For my bachelor degree I worked designing and building the back-end of an interferometer for the electrical engineering department, to observe the spectral line of hydrogen. Was design and built an active Power Splitter and a circuit with two heterodyne receiver (SSB) controlled by the same Local Oscillator in order to maintain the relative phase between signals. The PCB layout was design in Cadence-ORCAD and was built in a Rapid Prototyping. The active Power Splitter performance was characterized using a VNA (Vector Network Analyzer) which was calibrated using standard techniques. The heterodyne receiver was tested using RF synthesizers to generate the local oscillator and RF test signal, and a Spectrum Analyzer to measure the output. Electronic Engineer in Front End Team

The Front End is a highly specialized RF receiver that is capable to identify very high frequency signals (between 17GHz to 940GHz) from astronomical sources generating very low noise in the process. To do this, there are 10 different superconductive receptors all install in a cryogenic system that keeps it in a very cold state, around 4K of temperature, all this components define one of the seventy Front End that exist in ALMA.The main goal of the Engineers in Front End Team is to ensure that all the equipment that define the receiver-system of the telescope are working normally, and if not identify where is the problem and solve it. To do this I developed several software tools that allows to identify and predict problems on the antenna. This works involves working with different groups like Software, Operators, Technician and Engineer from other areas.Significant achievements:- Developed several tools and procedures to improve the identification and troubleshooting of different problems related to receiver calibration devices and associated electronics devices.- The Frond End is a highly modular equipment, this makes very difficult to track component and their performance over time. For this reason I developed a database that identify quickly the components install in an antenna and the tests performed to this. This is used to track the evolution of the equipment trying to predict when this is going to fail.- There is no practical knowledge of the equipment used here, is very often that the Engineer needs to develop new tools to identify different kind of problem. For this reason I developed a generic and modular reported tool that creates almost automatically reports and charts reducing the time in the implementation of new tools. Show less
