      Adaptive Eyecare was established to research, develop and apply innovative, adaptive spectacles. The low cost of the spectacles, and the ability to prescribe them without the need for an optical specialist, makes them ideal for distribution in the Developing World, where millions of people have no access to eye care.Role included:- Designed and maintained a contacts database- Organised a research programme at the Oxford Eye Hospital- Prepared a funding application to DfID for distribution of the Adaptive Spectacles in Ghana- Coordinated with partners running an adult literacy programme in Ghana Show less

      CCAFS Scenarios Communications Officer

      Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) is a major collaborative research programme between the international agricultural (CGIAR) and global environmental change research communities aimed at overcoming the additional threats posed by a changing climate to achieving food security, enhancing livelihoods and improving environmental management in the developing world.A cross-cutting aspect of CCAFS is the development of a set of regional, socio-economic scenarios for Africa and South Asia, within which analyses of potential policy and technical interventions can be undertaken. These multi-stakeholder scenarios are developed through a participatory process, involving people in the region from policy, private sector, NGOs (non-governmental organisations), CSOs (civil society organisations), media and research.Main responsibilities:- Co-leading the analysis of the scenarios as a capacity building process through examining interviews and workshop results.- Coordinating and contributing to project reports and other academic outputs such as policy briefs, brochures, presentation materials etc. as is needed to convey the research outcomes.- Co-leading work with media partners to ensure wide dissemination of the scenarios outputs through newspaper articles, radio programs, videos and TV items, etc.- Co-leading collaborations with the CCAFS Communications team to promote CCAFS scenarios activities, especially with regard to website content for the project.- Organizing practical aspects of Scenarios Advisory Group meetings.
