    • Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association

      Jun 2008 - Jan 2024
      Volunteer Member, Emergency Manager

I was privileged to be part of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses for 15 years, the non-profit organization whose 935 members annually produce "America's New Year Celebration," including the Tournament of Roses Parade since 1895 and the Rose Bowl Game (“The Granddaddy of Them All”) since 1902.From 2008 - 2012, I helped the organization with its burgeoning emergency management program. As part of a small planning team, we established an Emergency Operations Center (EOC), developed checklists and training for EOC staff, created a contingency planning program, and authored the Tournament’s Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). After proving the value of its emergency management program, the Tournament was motivated to hire an Emergency Manager who continues to build upon our initial efforts to this day. I continued to make myself available to support the emergency preparedness needs of the organization so the program became increasingly more formal and capable.Beyond my extra duty work in emergency management, I also had regular committee assignments throughout the years.
