      Employed in 2012 as a Psychosocial Officer, I was responsible for conducting case managements, daily collection and updating of Gender Based Violence Information & Management System (GBVIMS) case management tool, Post Rape Care registers and the District Health Information System (DHIS; conducting social assessments for GBV survivors, including PWDS and PLWHA, facilitating social justice to survivors of GBV through coordinating court cases and conducting court case follow-up; facilitating referrals to like-minded organizations for various needs like legal aid, shelter and economic empowerment; supervising and providing training, and other technical support to community workers, Kenya Police, Health Care Providers directly involved with the medical and psychosocial component of the GVRC’s GBV management and response programme. Baringo Charcoal Briquettes is a recycled bio fuel from wastes such as sawdust, groundnuts husks, maize cobs and charcoal dust. Recycling these materials is an innovative way of waste management, and source of clean energy and employment.

      I was responsible for analyzing existing policies for gender responsiveness and accountability, planning coordination and implementation of programme activities under different grants, commissioning, coordinating, supervision, editing and managing the undertaking of researches and documentation under the programme, developing policy briefs and other information communication materials, development of proposals, concept notes and work plans for funding and cultivating a good relationship with all partners, working on internal and external reports and monitoring and evaluating projects.Other duties included management of consortium and CSO partners, supporting the monitoring, evaluation, accountability & learning (MEAL), capacity strengthening of CSOs, building strategic partnerships, coordinating communication with implementing partners, grants management (DANIDA, FORD and Woman Kind Worldwide) and development of communication and advocacy tools. Some of the thematic areas handled included gender mainstreaming, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), women in decision making and leadership, gender based violence, Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA).Key recent SRHR projects- advocacy work around ICPD +25, Beijing Declaration & Platform for Action (Beijing +25 process, engagement in the development of CSO’s position paper on BDPfA, review of the Maputo Protocol among others. Further, I coordinated CSOs for the review of two important SRH-Bills namely the Reproductive Health Bill, 2019 and the Assisted Reproductive Health Technology Bill 2019.       As a Gender Specialist attached to the MSME Project, I address existing and emerging gender related matters during the implementation of the initiative, act as a key resource person in stakeholder engagement platforms, provide technical guidance for gender mainstreaming & integration during the implementation of the project towards SMEs recovery, resilience and catalyzing growth during and post COVID 19 and advocacy initiatives of the KEPSA Gender and Youth Sector Board.One other key task is developing the private sector Gender Policy, strategy and advocacy framework. The Gender Policy establishes clear vision and commitments that KEPSA will apply to guide the process of gender integration & mainstreaming in the private sector.       As the WEE Manager, I am primarily responsible for planning, implementation, and oversight of all projects within the WEE portfolio including identifying and overcoming gender inclusion barriers in financial investment opportunities and programming in Kenya. I also build the capacity of staff to effectively integrate a gender lens into activities, monitoring and evaluation, and stakeholder relations. I assume overall charge of the WEE component of KIM and provide overall strategic direction and technical oversight across all project results relating to gender.In close coordination with the Deputy Chief of Party, and the Finance and Operations Director, I coordinate and monitor the responsibilities of all program services (administration, finance, and compliance) activities to ensure that project progress is achieving its goals, objectives, and deliverables and is delivered with quality, on time and on budget.I develop innovative approaches to advancing gender equity, promoting inclusive development, and preventing and addressing gender gaps. I also provide ongoing technical support for the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs with gender-focused outcomes.I also contribute to the capacity building of KIM’s staff and stakeholders on gender lens application in the project with the objective of tackling gender inequalities in financial sector and ultimately empowering women in business.In practicing CLA, I support executive annual learning events and also represent KIM at various gender-related communities of practice and networks both at the international, regional, and local levels.
