  I worked with a team of highly motivated individuals in engaging DOH regional offices in Regions IV-A, VI, IX, X and in the ARMM to implement programs for cities, municipalities and provincial hospitals to strengthen and improve local health systems so that the poor may have access to responsive health services. In the end, significant health outcomes were improved in the 97 poor municipalities in the provinces of Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Misamis Oriental, Iloilo and Batangas.This project was followed through by another project with the USAID. We engage the Department of Health, Provincial Governors and City Mayors in strengthening capacities of Local Government Leaders to implement responsive health programs for their constituents. I lead the team in working with the DOH Bureau of Local Health Systems and Development; with DOH Regional Offices in Region VI, Region IX, Region X, Region XII and the ARMM; with provincial governors from Antique, Guimaras, Misamis Oriental, Sarangani, Sultan Kudarat, Basilan and Tawi-Tawi; and the city mayors of Zamboanga, Pagadian, Dipolog, Iligan, Cagayan de Oro and General Santos.
