      School Governor – Strathmore Infant and Nursery School, HitchinI joined the team of school governors at a time when the former Head Teacher had retired and the school was assessed by Ofsted as ‘Requiring Improvement.’ I took responsibility for the Special Educational Needs (SEN) children.Key Achievements• I worked with the SENCO to assess the SEN children’s achievements resulting in the employment of a ‘Reading Recovery’ teacher to support children with English as a second language. This was highlighted in Ofsted visits as being valuable• I organised an event to showcase the skills and culture of the Asian parents in the school with a view to helping them integrate and so make the support of their children easier.
