      Technical Writer

My career as a technical author began at White Knight where I was responsible for producing user and training guides for a VAT accounting solution used by franchises in the UK and Australia. Much of my work was written in PageMaker (now InDesign) then converted to PDF or printed. Here I also gained experience in web design and producing printed and digital marketing material.

      Technical Writer

I started at Funasset writing and maintaining technical and user guides for connectivity and document management solutions used by organisations such as Xerox, Fujitsu and local government. Now I maintain guides and help systems for hybrid mail and printing solutions developed for the NHS, local government and mail service providers such as Xerox and UK Mail.Documentation is written in either Framemaker or Word then converted to PDF or compiled into HTML help using ePublisher. All publications include a dynamic index and contents, and digital versions contain convenient hyperlinks.A recent project required me to produce documentation that automatically changed screenshots, diagrams and wording to facilitate multiple variants of the same software. As a result, only a single source document is required, making the management of updates extremely efficient.I work closely with developers and the project manager to ensure every aspect of software is documented, and often meet with end-users to produce tailored training and quick start guides. I also maintain release and technical notes. With experience of graphic applications such as Photoshop and CorelDraw, I am also solely responsible for software screenshots, diagrams and the design and layout of all documentation. My role at Funasset has also required me to write and design marketing material, publish case studies, and be involved in the design and upkeep of in-house websites. These tasks have allowed me to acquire a diverse skill set and knowledge of a wide range of technologies and applications (see reverse). Show less
