Managed day-to-day operations, encompassing hiring and policy creation, and took on expanded HR oversight for human capital planning, compensation, DEI training, and labor relations.• Managed key relationships with leading internal and external brand partners, including USAA, Marvel, Disney, UFC, espnW, ESPN Learning and Development, Monday Night Football, College GameDay, and SportsCenter.• Secured buy-in from executive leadership to carry out a $5M refresh of our facility, with zero capital investment, that will pay for itself in under three years. Rebuilt and expanded edit and sound design suites and added 8 post-production team members to improve editing quality and reduce external spending. By bringing previously outsourced production in-house, the project was projected to save the company more than $2.6M per year. • Responded proactively to meet the unprecedented challenges caused by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and successfully continued live TV operations without interruption, and zero impact to production value. By day three, implemented a rotational schedule for the news-gathering unit. Within one week, convinced Disney to address firewalls and enabled TV production from home for the first time in company history. • Headed return to the office planning to successfully transition team members, covering three hubs in California, Connecticut, and North Carolina, five facilities in three states, and six remote editors in six additional states. Show less • Provided leadership to remedy internal issues, turn around, and instill a performance culture for a management team responsible for approximately 130 personnel. Created improved partnerships between functions, restored positive communication, and grew managers to provide effective feedback and guidance to staff. Managed a team of 12 reports to achieve a successful transformation and earned the promotion to Senior Manager in 2016.• Selected to serve on the Training Committee and established a tiered approach to the expertise required for each studio show. Partnered with Camera and Video Operators to create structured, 100, 200, and 300-level instruction with timebound online and offline training and a final pass/fail assessment. The model captured demonstrated growth and future areas for improvement and was later adopted across the 700+ person operational unit. • Developed and implemented several in-studio processes that enhanced ESPN’s reputation as a leader in sports production and substantially improved recruiting, training, recognition, and promotion efforts. Assembled an internal Content Review Board composed of Senior Operators that analyzed progress on the department’s four primary disciplines, which included Hard Camera, Jib, Steadicam, and Video. Show less • Oversaw properties that included NASCAR, NCAA, women’s sports, and combat sports to ensure the best storylines were shared for every event. Served as a Production Lead, partnering with Coordinating Producers and talent to determine the best statistical approach to a given storyline. Developed individualized growth plans for a diverse group of employees to help them advance professionally and increase proficiency in next-level statistics.• Led and grew a team of 10 Statistical Sports Researchers and managed an annual budget responsibility of $50K. Recruited new hires and streamlined the onboarding process to get personnel up to speed faster. Supported and provided feedback to team members on deliverables that included full-screen story proposals and show support. Developed a “Smart Stats” glossary that continues to serve as a production guide for employees. • Created full-screen graphics for NASCAR, highlighting the Stats & Information Group’s (SIG) accident analysis. Collaborated with Production and Creative Services in the development of a Crash Predictor metric and full-screen graphic that anticipated when a crash was likely to occur specific to the raceway and driver position.
