That led me to Spain, where I studied abroad my junior year of college. While there, my best friends were all Philosophy majors, and I admired the depth of their thinking, wisdom and care for the question of "what is it to be human and how to do it right?" This led me to change my major as I entered my Senior year. I dove into philosophy and completed the entire major in one year, taking a summer class at UC Berkeley and UCLA to help me round out my studies and complete my education. UC Davis is an incredible place and I'm so glad I went there. Plus, riding bikes all around town was simply the best! Show less

This led me to intern at the Church Street Counseling Center, in Noe Valley, SF, where I spent a year immersed in a Gestalt-based community, training in awareness, somatic experiencing, and working with clients facing a multitude of life issues (depression, HIV/AIDS, sexual identity, existentialism). Mar 2005 - Jun 2007
Peace Corps Volunteer - Youth Development

Living in the eastern most oblast of Ukraine, I worked with under-resourced youth in conjunction with the city council, education professionals, and other Peace Corps volunteers to empower youth to live healthier, fuller lives. Writing grants for HIV/AIDS education and prevention, running after-school programming and developing summer camps were just a part of the job. I learned to speak Russian, gave interviews and speeches to national Ukrainian press, and gained a deep understanding of what it was like to live close to the earth with challenging life circumstances. It was the toughest job I have ever loved. Show less

Working with talented and caring professionals, we developed and implemented plans that would help the children find fulfillment and satisfaction. This was a challenging and rewarding work experience.

      Founding Member

I was lead singer for the band Alma Desnuda - Naked Soul. In addition to rocking out for all kinds of people across the world, we engaged in philanthropy (for example, with Bread & Roses, a non-profit bringing the healing power of music to under-resourced, disadvantaged populations) and strove to be the change in the world we wished to see. Naked Soul created community and linked complimentary people and places together. Naked Soul was more than just a band, it was a way of life.

    • Ramsey & Associates

      May 2014 - May 2017
      Project Manager

As Project Manager for Ramsey & Associates, I ensured that multi-million dollar hotel renovation projects met their end result of a beautiful, comfortable and luxurious product for hotel guests. To do so, I made sure the renovation stayed on schedule, that a myriad of inter-related details and communications flowed smoothly with integration, and created efficient partnerships between vendors, design firms, and property ownership. I issued purchase orders, tracked and monitored designer approvals prior to production, factored in vendor needs with regards to materials, lead times, transportation, and made sure the client knew exactly what was going on at any given moment by participating in weekly status update meetings.Past projects included Westin LAX, Westin Mission Hills, Westin South Coast Plaza, Fairmont San Francisco, Intercontinental SF, Marriott Santa Clara, Hyatt Capitol, Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey Public Areas & Lower Level, Marriott Marina Del Rey Lower Level, Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay and the Meadowood Lodge Napa Valley, Ritz Carlton (now Hotel Camby) in Phoenix, AZ, Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey Guestrooms and Club Lounge, CA, Marriott Costa Mesa, Marriott Marquis San Francisco, CA, Hyatt Reston, VA.Some links to past work:http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/Properties/HalfMoonBay/PhotoGallery.htmhttp://www.meadowood.com/ Show less

    • Pound Management, Inc.

      Jun 2017 - Mar 2021
      Construction Project Manager

Pound Management Inc. offers services of construction project management; owner representation for all aspects of a construction project. Typically for our clients, the contractual relationship on a project is a three-legged stool; the owner, the architect and the contractor. All are professionals in the field they work, but the owner's expertise is not in construction. We support the owner. We help them understand the roles of the other two and the role they themselves must fill for the project to be successful. At Pound Management Inc. we believe the best way for an owner to maintain control of a project is to be represented by sensible and knowledgeable management. Our purpose is to protect the owner's interests. From the beginning, when the need for the project is understood and the program is identified, realistic schedules and budgets must be created to guide expectations. On any scale a construction project is complex; it involves a multitude of materials, trades and professions, and there are numerous variables that can impact the owner's schedule and budget. The best way to manage these inherent risks is to reduce uncertainties and improve predictability within the process, from early design through to occupancy and maintenance. Experience is key and Pound Management Inc. provides the expertise and leadership to assemble and coordinate a team to achieve our client's objectives.Through a collaborative approach we plan the work, then work the plan; it benefits the entire project.
