  Economics Account Division, GDP SectionJob Scope: - Compiling, reporting and analysing Singapore's GDP - Ensuring statistics compilation methodologies adhere to national and international standards. Achievement- I implemented a forecasting software (X-12 ARIMA) that improve the accuracy and timeliness of monthly GDP flash estimates using Excel VBA and FAME software. Achievement- I created a new business process and system to automate the compilation of Quarterly GDP cluster estimates using Excel VBA and FAME Software. This automation improved the accuracy by reducing errors due to manual entry and reducing the resources required to compile the GDP estimates. Achievement- I wrote and implemented new SAS Macros that automated and improved the compilation process for Singapore’s National Accounts.

  Economic Regulation Division, Market Development & Surveillance Department- Conducting market surveillance and investigation works on Singapore’s electricity and gas industries.- Developing, reviewing, and implementing policies to enhance the competitiveness of Singapore’s electricity and gas industries.- Developing electricity and gas models for regulatory and market simulationsAchievements-I led the coordination work on a significant maintenance event on Singapore’s critical gas infrastructure. Besides coordinating on the technical aspects of the maintenance, there was also intense negotiations on the commercial aspects of this maintenance event with the various stakeholders in Singapore’s Gas Network. Some key outcomes would include significantly lowering the compensation costs and mitigating unnecessary price volatility in the Singapore wholesale electricity market. -I led a team to develop a database to consolidate and clean high-frequency market and technical data from various stakeholders in the electricity and gas industries. This database enhances the timeliness in which data analytics could translate insights into more actionable and accurate decision making at multiple levels. (SAS Technologies and MSSQL)-I led a team to produce market and investigation reports to senior management on the state of Singapore’s electricity and gas markets. These reports assisted senior management in understanding the various stakeholder’ objectives, abilities and incentives and guided overall EMA’s engagement with the stakeholders.-I led the development of energy market models to assist the department in understanding the economic and re-distributive impacts of EMA’s policies on the various stakeholders in the electricity and gas industry. This is the first major change to Singapore’s energy-only electricity market design since its inception in 2003.
