  My experience at Godalming College was predominantly as an IT technician. This involved building, maintaining and improving a networked computer workshop and working with the head of IT to prepare and teach computer skills to small groups of students. Alongside this role I also undertook a Microsoft accredited apprenticeship in IT systems and networking, gaining experience in TCP/IP; Windows Server; Active Directory; network security and customer support. I developed a number of systems to further the experience of both students and staff, including a network deployment system using virtualisation as a means of making computers easier to manage. Working as a team to upgrade the computer systems throughout the school, including installing solid state drives in every computer in the school, and deploying new software packages across the network, this involved testing all new software to to ensure that it would work on every computer and in every teaching scenario.Providing Audio Visual support for orchestral concerts, assemblies and other events held by the school, including setting up and running sound, projection and lighting.Preparing video and audio to be used in assemblies, editing clips together and producing multimedia presentations. Recording concerts, which involved setting up and testing multi-microphone arrangements, to produce professional quality recordings.
