The manufacturing placement included a 6-week secondment to the firm's manufacturing facility in Lincoln. The focus was not solely on quantity of students which applied, but equally on the necessary quality of applicant required for progression through the recruitment process. Chatteris Educational Foundation recruits and trains Native English speaking graduates from the UK and North America and then places them in local primary schools, secondary schools and vocational colleges. The foundation's aim is to improve local students' ability and confidence speaking the English language through interactive English lessons and further language enrichment activities.Primary role within the school and the foundation was as an English teacher. Day-to-day work based on delivering a government curriculum based around teaching English lessons with a focus on either Economics, Geography or History. Alongside being a English department member I was also responsible for English based lunchtime activities and also for the daily running of the school's debate and football teams. The post greatly developed my communication skills working every day with staff and students through the medium of their second language.I held the position of Chatteris International Graduate Programme Secondary Ambassador. My role was to canvas opinion among my secondary school teaching peers and then feedback at Programme Management meetings. I met regularly with senior management and had a key influence in the decision making process. I was also required to deliver professional skills workshops to peers and organise/promote large social events within the foundation. Large amount of exposure to senior management giving a good understanding of key performance metrics and a holistic overview of the bank.
