  Industrial Placement Engineer

  An Aerospace firm specialising in jet engine design and analysis. I was assigned alongside the Graduate Scheme members and given a position with specific project deliverables in each of the 5 key areas of the business - Project Management, Design, Analysis, Manufacturing and Commercial. The manufacturing placement included a 6-week secondment to the firm's manufacturing facility in Lincoln. Upon successful completion of the placement I was awarded sponsorship for my final two years at university and offered a place on the Graduate Scheme upon degree completion. Show less

  My role consisted of calling Bath Alumni and talking to them about their experience of Bath and trying to make them re-engage with the University. The role was primarily a fundraising activity. At the end of the autumn campaign I was one of 3 out of 30 callers to hit the £2000 target for funds raised.

  Gained experience in the Audit and Tax service lines. Given ownership of my own Audit/Tax project deliverables. Worked with both public and private companies. Spent a large proportion of time liaising with the point of contact at client site.Upon successful completion of the internship and subsequent Partner Interview I was offered a graduate place at the London office within the Audit service line.

  Marketing and Recruitment role.Charged with coordinating all Teach First marketing and promotion at Bath, and the hosting of recruitment events. Deal with many University and Teach First stakeholders, requiring strong organisational skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of different people. The role required application and recruitment targets to be hit. The focus was not solely on quantity of students which applied, but equally on the necessary quality of applicant required for progression through the recruitment process. I exceeded the targets set for both criteria three months before the end of my contract. Show less

  Summer Internship working in the Client Coverage (Sales) business stream, within the Manufacturing, Transportation and Logistics industry team. Worked closely with other members of the team on business conquest work and had ownership of individual business development projects. Liaised with all major areas of the bank through both industry team deliverables and for the intern project, including work with bank's investment banking arm. Large amount of professional training undertaken including financial markets, project management and presentation skills.Upon successful completion of the internship I was offered a position on the Barclays Corporate Graduate Scheme.   Native English Teacher in a local government secondary school - Queen Elizabeth School, Mong Kok, Hong Kong. Chatteris Educational Foundation recruits and trains Native English speaking graduates from the UK and North America and then places them in local primary schools, secondary schools and vocational colleges. The foundation's aim is to improve local students' ability and confidence speaking the English language through interactive English lessons and further language enrichment activities.Primary role within the school and the foundation was as an English teacher. Day-to-day work based on delivering a government curriculum based around teaching English lessons with a focus on either Economics, Geography or History. Alongside being a English department member I was also responsible for English based lunchtime activities and also for the daily running of the school's debate and football teams. The post greatly developed my communication skills working every day with staff and students through the medium of their second language.I held the position of Chatteris International Graduate Programme Secondary Ambassador. My role was to canvas opinion among my secondary school teaching peers and then feedback at Programme Management meetings. I met regularly with senior management and had a key influence in the decision making process. I was also required to deliver professional skills workshops to peers and organise/promote large social events within the foundation. Coordinated the Chatteris Saturday Football Enrichment Programme, implementing English language usage in the informal environment of football coaching. Vice-Captain of the Foundation's football team. Client-facing role with a high level of stakeholder management required to liaise with the internal sales, product, risk and legal teams as well as the clients and external accountancy, property and legal firms. Exposure to complex facility letter, security situations and legal structures. The team was created as I joined, bringing specific challenges in terms of organisation and marketing of the team. Team includes the bank’s biggest clients - FTSE350 names/clients with high exposure.Primarily involved with performance reporting within the group analysing income, activity and deal cross-sell. Large amount of exposure to senior management giving a good understanding of key performance metrics and a holistic overview of the bank. High-level technical computer skills (Excel and PowerPoint) were required to create some reports and proficiency in the use of the banks internal systems. Show less
