  I was responsible for leading and managing a shift of approximately thirty-five Patrol Officers and five Sergeants during the daily conduct of patrol operations in an urban area. This activity includes a responsibility to ensure that day to day operations are conducted in a professional manner by providing the highest level of service to the members of the community. The supervisors and officers under my command require guidance and sustainment training, and it is a large part of my responsibility to ensure that this is provided. I have to prepare periodic evaluations of my supervisors and review the evaluations of patrol personnel by those supervisors. I have the responsibility to ensure that discipline is maintained and that deviations from established rules, policies, and procedures are dealt with firmly, fairly, and objectively, the main goal being to remedy the conduct and prevent a recurrence. From the period of July 2016 through May 2019, I was the Officer-in-Charge of the Special Victims Section for the Cleveland Division of Police. This entailed administering the operations of the Sex Crimes & Child Abuse Unit and the Domestic Violence Unit. During this time, I was the coordinator for a Department of Justice Grant involving the locating, identification, and testing of previously untested sexual assault kits from the period of time prior to 1993. This entailed coordination with other units within the Division, working with community partners and overseeing the process of preparing a Request for Proposal and the initial process of screening bids from prospective contractors. During the period of March - December 2018, I was the acting Commander for the Bureau of Special Investigations of the Cleveland Division of Police. This entailed directing the operations for providing of oversight for several investigative units.I retired from the Cleveland Division of police on March 25, 2022. Show less
