Npower
Jan 1998 - Dec 2013SAP migration data cleanse projectLegacy billing system was to be decommissioned. I created a logical model of the portfolio of dormant accounts and established, and led a team of seven analysts working on several workstreams based on attributes and required solutions. I worked closely with, and developed, the project analysts and provided updates through project plans, managing risks and issues, checkpoint meetings, scrums, regular management information packs and reported and liaised with stakeholders including divisional director, external solicitors and external auditors. I established enduring processes, as a subject matter expert, to ensure future benefits will be achieved. Achieved benefits >£50m, prevented c.1m accounts from unnecessary migration, operational policies revised and customer service maintained. Green Deal projectGovernment initiated the Green Deal scheme which required energy supplier compliance. I carried out initial impact assessment, and industry testing, of processes. I liaised with government officials through various media including representing the company in external industry forums. I ensured the project plan was delivered through regular checkpoint meetings and daily scrums with the team of three analysts, liaison with training and other operational stakeholders. I ensured business priorities were upheld whilst ensuring compliance and achievement of milestone of remitting to financiers on due date. Show less Reviews of customer account processes I led several reviews of processes employing a company specific variant of Six Sigma methodology. I identified areas of potential weakness where checks and controls needed to be enhanced and also areas for potential streamlining. The recommendations I made were reviewed, and agreed, through a series of workshops with key stakeholders and solutions delivered through several workstreams which I led through regular one-to-one updates and project checkpoint meetings. I created, and chaired, an enduring governance forum to ensure the solutions were maintained. Benefits included maintained compliance with VAT rules, prevention of potential errors that could affect VAT submissions, avoidance of potential fines, reduced opportunities for fraud and increased protection of brand image.Implementation of 2008 VAT Rate ChangeI successfully co-ordinated a multi-company team of analysts and developers to implement the necessary changes and carry out a suitable level of testing to ensure compliance within extremely demanding timescales. This was achieved through ensuring all affected systems were identified and that progress was monitored though regular, often twice-daily, scrums. Key stakeholders were provided with regular progress updates.Misdirected Paymentsnpower received a claim from another supplier for customer payments that had been misdirected as a result of an error in industry processes. I led the project team, using my knowledge of the industry, internal systems and network of colleagues to correctly identify funds to offset the claim. This enabled an improved profit figure by £3.4m.Established governance frameworknpower established a new company and required a financial governance framework to be in place. I facilitated, and contributed to, workshops with key stakeholders to establish requirements. I used the workshop outputs to create a governance policy document that was adopted by the new company. Show less I led, or worked as the sole analyst on, several projects including: reviewing procure to pay (P2P) processes; reviewing end-to-end processes within several RWE group companies and subsidiaries; review of Gross Margin methodology and building the business case for a centre of excellence within Shared Service function. These were achieved through: requirements gathering; process mapping as-is and to-be processes; gap analysis; reviewing process and activity costs; researching best practice through internal and external sources; reviewing spans of control; collaboration with, and management of, various internal stakeholders and external suppliers; conflict resolution and utilising various problem solving techniques to identify the most appropriate solutions. Show less I provided subject matter expertise for Back Office activities whilst being the lead analyst on the Metering division. I created effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels throughout the business to gain ‘buy-in’, of project objectives. I gathered data through regular meetings, interviews and reviewing Management Information. I analysed the data and presented the results highlighting activity, process and product costs and their drivers. I redesigned Key Performance Indicators, in agreement with key stakeholders, to drive focus on cost reductions and allowing informed decision making across the Metering division. Benefits included £250k activity costs savings in Back Office, targeted customer acquisition, implementation of Activity Based Budgeting and facilitated integration following acquisition. Show less
