  As an operator in a large manoeuvre field (Le camp du Ruchard) I handled the various telecommunication systems and devices, including short and long distance radio systems in addition to the standard telephone, fax telex services in the camp.In order to obtain this position a number of background checks were done, and I also gained the "Confidentiel Defense" security clearances.During the mandatory ten month I spent a fair amount of times working with computers to build a VBA front end to a very large spreadsheet. The spreadsheet was used to manage the insertion and amendment of telecom entries (25,000+ lines with 10 to 20 weekly updates).I also obtained my drive license during this period. Show less

  On the production floor I was producing train equipement such as switch boxes used by the train drivers to operate the engine, breaks and other internal systems. This work involved liaising with the method office to report issues or improvments with new or existing building tooling, accomodate customer demands with supply challenges (mainly due to necessary parts missing from the inventory) and deliver the sub-systems in time thru our Quality Assurance team to ensure the billing would take place as forecasted.I also built a few prototypes used in tender process to show case the company capacity to deliver custom designed tools.Additional work I undertook included writing a user manual to document the process to operate the etching machine and produce the serial plates fixed on all equipements.   I joined the IT Group in January 2002 to work in their daugther companies Beijing Digital, a local Internet Service Provider as Network operation Manager and IT-Resource, a leading system integrator in the Beijing area, as a Senior Consultant.Main achievements: After arriving in Beijing Digital my first decisive move was to put a halt to the numerous changes undertaken on the network. This had the immediate effect to reduce support incident and increase customer satisfaction, the first one dropping dramatically with the second gaining widely in less than 3 month.With the 6 network engineers in the team we then planned a global rebuild of the Data center, executed in 5 steps within 2 month with the aim to accomodate increasing demand whilst ensuring quality of service, maximum uptime and minimal latency across the ISP network.This allowed Beijing Digital to take on more business and increase traffic bandwith to our 3 upstreams providers from 3 Mbps to 25 Mbps.
