Created and manage Booker, the Reading Retriever mascot, to promote the library use through his public appearances.       PRSA Blacksmith Awards - Creative Tactics Award of Excellence Creative Tactics Public Relations Society of America - Cincinnati Chapter Nov 2023 The staff of the Kenton County Public Library's Erlanger Branch wanted to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the building being in its permanent location. Since its inception, the building has moved several times before being built in its current (and final) location. Research was conducted on the best way to inform the residents of this area about all of the 20th anniversary celebration activities. Located on a bustling three-way intersection, the building has a massive blank wall - or, as the… Show more The staff of the Kenton County Public Library's Erlanger Branch wanted to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the building being in its permanent location. Since its inception, the building has moved several times before being built in its current (and final) location. Research was conducted on the best way to inform the residents of this area about all of the 20th anniversary celebration activities. Located on a bustling three-way intersection, the building has a massive blank wall - or, as the PR team saw - a blank canvas. We turned the building into a billboard via gigantic window clings that passers could not miss by featuring the 20th anniversary logo that stayed up during the month-long celebration. Show less

      Blacksmith Award of Excellence: Shoestring Budget ($5,000 or less) Public Relations Society of America Nov 2019 The library's PR team developed and implemented a multi-faceted campaign to encourage library users to return their items. Amnesty in April was a success and the launch to the system going fine-free.

      Best of NKY: Racing to Read 5K NKY Magazine May 2012 The library's Racing to Read 5k Run & Walk was nominated and selected by runners as the best charitable race. Custom t-shirts, a pancake breakfast, flat course and prizes were recognized as favorites by runners and walkers. The library's media partner, Local 12, also provided support and John Lomax emceed the event.

      PR/Marketing Award Kentucky Public Library Association Oct 2011 The purpose of the Public Relations and Marketing Award, established in 2010, is to recognize a library which has demonstrated remarkable achievement in the promotion of its services. The award may be given for a particular public relations campaign, a series of promotional pieces, an innovative Internet presence, or other activities which serve the purpose of promoting library usage in the community. I was the first person honored with this new award.
